Observation of Pollen Grains of Ten <i>Hydrangea</i> Varieties with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)

In order to analysis the difference in pollen morphological characteristics of hydrangea varieties and fertility, scanning electron microscope was used observe 10 hydrangea, parameters grains such as shape, ratio long short axes, germination groove, ornamentation polar surface characteristics. Observe grain aspect ratio, ornamentation, other 10  Hydrangea  macrophylla through analyze differences between different Hydrangea pregnancy sex. The results indicated that fertile flowers are all spherical, except for sterile ‘Endless summer’ ‘Otaksa’, others spheroids. have with three germinating grooves, which splitting into grooves poles. belonging N3P4C5 type pollen, face shapes were outer wall decoration is hole-shaped. But only ‘Otaksa’ infertility super-long spheres. faces shapes, Summer’, ‘Mona Lisa’, ‘Head Flower’ ‘First Love’ trilobate circulares, blunt triangles. length ridge width groove also different, pregnant ‘Maman rose’ had significant differences. size, shape distribution pores but same variety not different. conclusion, external walls can be one basis identification varieties, fertility. differs from well holes. However, there no patterns variety.
